An urban forest can be defined as an island of tree vegetation, and green life placed in a community to provide enriched enhancements to our quality of life. Urban forests not only bring people together, but also provide a connection between people and nature. The result is a positive bond between urban flora and fauna while enhancing oxygen production. Urban forests provide beauty, environment for urban wildlife, fresher air, reduced summer temperatures, increased property values, and overall improvements to the environment.
Urban forestry is the research, management and planning of community forests. With the growth of our cities, and even or smaller communities, people will play, work, and ultimately live in urban/community forests, which means that the field of urban forestry is a very important ingredient for positive and sustainable living!
